The Fallen Five…Melee’s lost sons. Roy has forced his way back into the fray, having beat down Sakurai to pass the gates into Brawl.
And so, another of the Fallen, inspired by Roy’s example, began his training. He harnessed the great power that resides inside his body, and became its master. Now, when he goes on the offensive, he no longer must worry about his own power wreaking damage on his being. The name of this warrior is Pichu.
First!
Great costume. Glad to see another of the 5 return. Now we just have Dr. Mario and… one I forgot.
Wait- you guys are counting Young Link? Toon Link is him in Brawl, so I wouldn’t count him.
For the record, yes. I count Young Link as one of the “Fallen Five”, because he and Toon Link are not the same person…(Truth be told, I prefer Toon Link :D)

Well they made the old-school link/robin hood so thats kind of Young Link in the loosest terms.
The way I look at it, Link in Smash isn’t FROM any Zelda game. He’s Smash Link, with bits and pieces of all Links glued together. His fairy taunt, his tornado appearance, and the Gale Boomerang–none of those really mix for any given Link, do they? He looks like TP Link now, but he’s still Smash Link. Zelda’s the same way–she looks like TP Zelda, but can become Sheik, and her demeanor and voice have remained constant between Melee and Brawl, neither of which matched up so well with OoT Zelda. Ganondorf doesn’t need this kind of thing because he is one man. A split timeline pulls him in different directions, but he’s still the one and only. Now, Young Link had the same kind of thing as Link and Zelda in Melee, representing the youthful Links, but weighted heavily on OoT. Along comes Toon Link who moves him out of the way to embody the Links in The Wind Waker, Four Swords, The Minish Cap and others. But especially The Wind Waker. But he does, in a way, stand for the younger Links. So it’s really however you feel about him whether Toon Link is the same younger Link of Smash with a new look and title or a new Smash Link altogether.

Poor Pichu…he was the only character I used in “Melee” who didn’t carry over to “Brawl” (the rest – Falco, Fox, Jigglypuff, Marth, Peach, and Pikachu – did).
Until now, of course. 😉
